By wondering with children! We start with information that families share in the application to curate provocations in science, math, arts, global and social studies. The majority of activities incorporate literacy, inquiry, and hands-on experiences. This is a process to develop critical thinking, practice empathy, and be guided by curiosity. We individualize activities based on children’s interests and national grade level standards.

Full-time Tuition at bia obi is: 

$325 a week or $1495 a month

Tuition covers school day care, individualized learning, project-based curriculum, specialist instructors (art, music, gardening), meals, and access to a nurturing, multi-age learning environment. A "stone soup" model help make the tuition financially accessible for families. We hope to incorporate other subsidy options soon!

Delicious food- we’re in New Orleans! We offer breakfast, lunch and afternoon snack. We follow the national nutritional guidelines while emphasizing local, fresh and seasonal ingredients. Meal time is an opportunity to informally talk about food groups, model healthy eating habits, and learn community food practices. Children will sometimes participate in food preparation, like juicing fruits for snack.

Yes. bia obi uses a "stone soup" model allowing families to contribute skills to supplement their tuition.

It’s a dream realized! This school creates a unique learning oasis that honors children's brilliance, connects them with different knowledge, and provides a joyful, empowering environment. We see children as competent and capable learners.

Our curriculum is designed to respond to specific needs and interests in a way that give children opportunities to practice advocating for their needs, and feel their needs responded to, in a caring environment. We also leverage relationships with learning specialists to support curriculum and learning activities. We’re starting small with a class size of 6:1 child-teacher ratio, allowing for personalized attention and meaningful peer learning across multiple age groups. We have children from toddler age (walking and potty trained) to 2nd grade.

Yes, all educators are CPR and First Aid certified. All staff undergo background checks, professional development, and are registered in Louisiana Pathways. Educators at bia obi have a passion for their craft and enjoy sharing their expertise with children.

Yes and No. We focus on plants, animals, humans, insects, birds, and so many other living beings throughout the day because we have connected experiences. We have a staggered start beginning Lundi Gras March 3rd, 2025!!  The first year we are accepting 6 children total. Then expand enrollment in 2026-2027 school year.
